Joi is a member of HOPE Church in Richmond, VA in August 2016. She was ordained as a Ruling Elder in February 2021.
Serving others, solving problems, standing up for injustice to make things better has been a natural part of her life in and outside of church ministry. As such, Joi has spent her entire career working in the public sector for federal (Department of Defense) and state government (Virginia Department of Transportation, Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries) leading change through people, process, and technology. She has transformed work processes and organizational units by challenging the status quo, offering practical, tactical, and creative solutions. Currently, she owns a consulting business and teaches as an Assistant Professor at Virginia State University.
